Illustration is a way to escape the real world and travel into the world of imagination. I drift into a story without leaving my home. Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design helped me discover the possibilities that illustration offers.
My artwork consists of a traditional style of illustration focusing on mediums such as oil, acrylic and graphite. I use these mediums by applying a neutral underpainting followed by the glazing of color. My illustrations can be defined by my love of light. Each piece is tied together through strong lighting effects. As an artist, I can adapt to many styles. I do not want to be tied down to one style. Whether the style is conceptual, editorial, realistic or imaginative, my traditional methods help develop illustrations that communicate a story. The characters seem to be based upon people I come across; ranging from family members, friends, to strangers willing to participate. I manipulate their faces realistically and imaginary to build personalities that match the story I am telling.
